Welcome to the blog The Dark Sisters.
My sister Kate and I have been talking about doing a podcast for at least two years now. We kept tossing podcast names back and forth, talked about our favorite podcasts and stories, we never seemed to lose our excitement over the idea. However, we live in two different states, a little over an hour away from each other. Neither of us can afford podcasting equipment, nor do we know how to edit audio. We also have people tell us, along with our older sister Steph, that we sound soooo much alike, which I know listeners would have a hard time with (not sure how we’re going to solve that!). So. We had a few hurdles. But at some point in the future, we would really like to convert to audio. Keep that in mind!
Finally, I wondered if we could get a similar effect by creating a blog. We came up with a name. We have a whole list of cases we want to cover. We are already getting story offers from friends and family, so that we have unique, personal stories to offer in addition to the big, famous, popular ones that everyone’s covered 20 times. We just decided we were gonna dive in!
Our goal is to start out posting twice a month. Now, I’m a single mom with three kids and a tiny budget, running my own businesses as a freelancer. Kate is working full time, has a husband and pets and is pregnant. To say we are busy is an understatement, but we just love these stories, so we’re really game to try to make this work!
At any rate, we have selected our first case. It’s a famous disappearance which has been covered a lot, I know, but I’m fascinated by it and Kate was agreeable, so off we go!
